The UK government has defined an essential digital skills framework which contains 5 key basic skills.
These skills include:
- communicating
- handling information and content
- transacting
- problem solving
- being safe and legal online
These are the categories of skills that adults need to enable them to safely benefit from, participate in and contribute to the digital world. Developing digital skills, no matter your age, requires motivation, confidence, inquisitiveness, tuition, and practice
During my travels I found different models for delivering digital skills, some such as those offered by libraries that were familiar to me and many that were not. The three main delivery models I found, with slight variations were structured classes, drop-in, and one-to-one home based.
